Guide 02 / goals

Count together, or test each side.

Totals and BTTS can use the same score but answer different questions. One compares a sum with a line. The other checks two separate scoring conditions.

A goal ledger comparing the combined total with separate home and away scoring checks

Two calculations

Total goals

Add the goals by both teams, then compare the sum with the stated line.

Both teams to score

Check whether each team recorded at least one goal in the stated period.

Hypothetical total: 2.5

Inputs: home 2, away 1. Line: 2.5.

Combined goals = 2 + 1 = 3. Because 3 is above 2.5, Over 2.5 matches; Under 2.5 does not.

A half-goal line avoids equality. Whole-goal lines and three-way total markets can behave differently, so their exact settlement rule matters.

Hypothetical BTTS checks

Score 1–1

Each side scored, so BTTS Yes matches.

Score 2–0

Only one side scored, so BTTS No matches.

Score 0–0

Neither side scored, so BTTS No matches.

Period and exceptions

Half-time, normal-time and extra-time markets are not interchangeable. Awarded results, abandoned matches and later corrections are handled by platform rules, not by the arithmetic above.
