Guide 04 / settlement

Resolve inputs in order.

Start with market wording, then lock the period, result source, adjustment and exceptional-event rule before assigning a status.

A five-step technical sequence from market wording to final settlement status

The sequence

01 / market

Name the result being tested.

02 / period

Use only the score from the stated market period.

03 / adjustment

Apply the defined handicap or calculation.

04 / rule

Check acceptance, settlement and exceptional-event rules.

05 / status

Only then identify the outcome, push, void or other treatment.

Market period

Under the Laws of the Game, a standard match has two equal 45-minute halves plus allowance for time lost. Extra time is separate and used when competition rules require a winner. A betting market can define its scope differently, so its wording controls the selection.

Official result

The result source and timing recognised by the market rules. Some rules specify how later corrections, data changes or awarded results are handled.

Void

A treatment in which a market is cancelled under published rules. The triggering conditions and return treatment are platform-specific.

Push

Equality with a whole-number line where the selected market’s rules recognise that treatment. Not every totals or handicap format does.

Interrupted matches

Postponement, abandonment, venue changes and shortened matches are not governed by one universal betting rule. Check the rule available for the specific market.
